Novelty candy products are increasingly drawing consumer attention, according to recent information shared by Innova Market Insights.
Specifically, consumers appear to look for unusual colors, popping candy, hot and spicy options, cooling effects and interactive, personalized packaging in their confectionery purchases, Innova, a Netherlands-based marketing firm, reported.
Several classic candy brands are adding multiple flavors, textures and colors to put a new spin on their products. For example, Ferrara Candy Co., Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., is bringing “poppability” and “sensory excitement” to its Now and Later and Laffy Taffy brands.
The company’s new Now and Later Morphs are an assortment of chewy candies featuring flavors that transform from cherry to mango, lemon lime to strawberry, grape to watermelon and blue raspberry to lemon. Laffy Taffy Laff Bites are candy-coated taffy bites in cherry, strawberry, green apple and blue raspberry flavors.
