The Hershey Co. has introduced a collection of seasonal treats in time for retailers to plan their Valentine’s Day and Easter merchandising strategies.
“Our Valentine’s Day products—from new Reese’s Blossom-Top Miniature Cups to our returning Hershey’s Kisses Meltaway Roses—are helping to make each moment, big or small, that much more special, no matter how you’re celebrating the season of love,” said Nathan Stebbins, associate brand manager of Valentine’s season for Hershey, Pa.-based Hershey Co.
In December, The National Confectioners Association (NCA) and Chicago-based IRI reported that total seasonal confectionery sales were up by 20% over 2020, with winter holiday chocolate sales up by more than 16% and winter holiday nonchocolate dollars seeing an increase of more than 34% from 2020.
Total holiday candy offerings are up by more than 9% on average, the data showed. The data was sourced from the NCA/IRI multi-outlet report reflecting a 5-week period ending Dec. 5.
