Dollar sales of dried meat snacks grew 2.1% in convenience stores during the 52 weeks ending April 19, 2020, according to Chicago-based IRI, while unit sales were up 1.2%.

Meanwhile, a report from market researcher Market Reports World, Los Angeles, indicates that the global meat-snack market will register a compound annualized growth rate (CAGR) of 8.4% from 2018 to 2023.

Market Reports World attributes the uptick to an innovation pipeline filled with nuanced, exotic flavors that consumers find intriguing. These include jalapeno, teriyaki and habanero.
