Missouri Meerschaum Corn Cob Pipe
All Missouri Meerschaum Corn Cob Pipes are made from corn grown on the Company’s 150-acre farm. The corn is a special hybrid that has been developed over the years just for the manufacture of Corn Cob Pipes. After the grain is shelled from the cob, the cobs are stored for two years to allow them to dry thoroughly, resulting in a seasoned cob that is perfect for making pipes. The cobs are cut into sections, drilled and turned on a lathe or on patented machines to produce the various shapes. Just as in the beginning in 1869, most of the pipe bowls are coated with plaster of Paris and lacquer to produce the legendary Missouri Meerschaum pipes. Some are left in a natural state, such as the Missouri Pride.
