8 Non-Alcoholic Beverages Making a Splash

Several non-alcoholic beverage releases are making a mark at the retail level since their arrival, spanning sodas, fruit-based, sparkling water, carbonated spritzers, energy and healthy drinks touting functional ingredients such as electrolytes and antioxidants.

Smart Soda

Smart Soda (Smart Soda Holdings Inc.) unveiled nine all-natural flavored sparkling waters that are made with better-for-you benefits. Available in tall and slim cans, Smart Soda is known for touting a healthier functional beverage alternative with energy focus and immunity enhancement benefits, according to the company.

ZOA Energy

ZOA Energy rolled out a new zero-sugar flavor in Cherry Limeade, the third zero-sugar flavor to join the lineup in 2022. ZOA followed up by launching limited edition Black Adam cans targeted to DC Entertainment devotees and Black Adam fans. The supplier also released a limited-edition 12-pack of ZOA Energy featuring the full Justice Society of America characters.

VCC Brands

California’s original cannabis beverage CQ (VCC Brands) debuted a new line of carbonated spritzer drinks that features such flavors as Blackberry Lemon Lime, Mandarin Dream, Pear Vanilla Cardamom and Watermelon Cucumber. Spritzers are CQ’s first foray into 5-milligram, single-serve cans. CQ is vegan, sweetened with cane sugar and real fruit juice and contains no artificial colors, gluten or GMO ingredients.


With a goal to decrease carbon emissions and minimize the need for new plastic, two Coca-Cola (The Coca-Cola Co.) flagship brands, Dasani and Sprite, introduced packaging that the supplier calls a meaningful step towards achieving its “World Without Waste” initiative. Dasani is introducing a more sustainable way for consumers to hydrate with its new bottles made from 100% recycled plastic. Sprite’s iconic green bottle transitions to clear plastic, increasing the material’s likelihood to be remade into a new bottle. 

Rowdy Energy

Formulated with 160 milligrams of natural caffeine from green tea, L-Theanine for sustained focus and electrolytes for hydration, Rowdy Energy beverages are available in two product lines totaling 14 flavors: Core Rowdy consists of Strawberry Lemonade, Peach Mango, Cherry Limeade, Blue Raspberry, Chiseled Ice, Sour Green Apple, Grape, Cotton Candy, Orange Citrus and Lemon Lime—seven of which are keto-friendly and zero sugar. The Power Burn line burns 150 calories per can in Pink Lemonade, Watermelon, Mango Dragonfruit and Pineapple Passionfruit flavors.


Offering antioxidants to support immune function​, Naked Juice debuts Naked Antioxidants Might Berry, rich in antioxidants and formulated with vitamin A, C and E. Containing no added sugar or preservatives, Naked Antioxidants Mighty Berry blends good-tasting and nutritious fruits and is available in 15.2-ounce bottles for an SRP of $3.29.

Jones Soda

Jones Soda teamed with Sub Pop Records and Hardly Art to promote 15 artists with new music that debuted in summer 2022. Through Jones’ Reel Labels Augmented Reality label series, users can see and hear exclusive clips from the artists by scanning soda bottles with the Jones mobile app. The animated labels appear on Jones’ Berry Lemonade, Cream Soda, Green Apple Soda, Root Beer and Orange & Cream flavors. 


Fruit-forward Koe Organic Kombucha in 12-ounce slim cans is unveiling a new can design and a new recipe that provides 200% or more of the recommended daily value of vitamin C, the company says. The drink has 25 calories, 15 milligrams of caffeine and 5 to 6 grams of sugar per serving. Six flavors are available: new Tropical and Watermelon and existing Strawberry Lemonade, Raspberry Dragonfruit, Mango and Blueberry Ginger.
