10 Fresh Products That Debuted in October

With so many products being released all the time, it can be hard to determine what to stock. At the end of every month, Convenience Store Products offers a rundown of the hottest snacks, candies, beverages and prepared foods that hit retailers over the past four weeks. This batch includes items ranging from tortilla chips and coffee candy to beef jerky and even condoms.

Here’s a look at what October brought to stores …

1. El Diablo Tortilla Chips

Taco Bell and 7-Eleven kicked off October with a bang. On the first day of the month, the convenience-store retailer debuted the restaurant chain’s Diablo Tortilla Chips on shelves nationwide. Once Halloween ended, the chips emerged in other retailers as well.

The spicy chips mimic Taco Bell’s Diablo sauce, which contains hot peppers and lime. They are vegan, kosher, gluten-free and made with natural vegetable juice. Consumers can purchase them in 3.5-ounce bags.

2. Dunkin' Coffee Thins

Sustainable coffee producer Tierra Nueva revealed its new line of edible Dunkin’ Coffee Thins at retailers nationwide in late October. These Coffee Thins are made from Dunkin’ Donuts house roasted coffee beans. By using a proprietary process, the coffee beans are transformed into a smooth, brown, edible square.

The Coffee Thins come in two flavors: Original Blend and Caramel, both of which are sold individually and in 12-count bags.

3. Well Yes Sipping Soups

The Campbell Soup Co. recently launched its Well Yes Sipping Soups, a line of on-the-go soup cups, at retailers nationwide and online for a suggested retail price of $1.99.

Well Yes Sipping Soups come in five flavors: Tomato & Sweet Basil, Butternut Squash & Sweet Potato, Roasted Red Pepper & Tomato, Harvest Carrot & Ginger and Sweet Corn & Roasted Poblano. Each cup contains 200 calories and provides 20% worth of consumers’ daily vegetable intake, according to Campbell's.

4. Drake’s Mint Creme Devil Dogs

Packaged pastry manufacturer Drake’s Cakes has revamped its Drake's Devil Dogs for this Christmas season. Drake’s Christmas Mint Creme Devil Dogs feature mint-flavored cream in between two traditional devil's food cakes.

Drake's Christmas Mint Creme Devil Dogs are available in supermarkets, supercenters, value retailers and convenience stores throughout the Eastern U.S. until Christmas.

5. Sky Condoms Cocktail Club

Health and wellness company Lifestyles Healthcare released the newest addition to its Skyn Condoms, Cocktail Club, in late October. The condoms are inspired by various cocktails and varieties include Pina Colada, Cherry Sunrise and Passion Daiquiri. They are the first flavored non-latex condom available in retail, according to the company.

Skyn Cocktail Club condoms are available at various retailers, drugstores, grocery and convenience stores across the country.

6. Tuno

Atlantic Natural Foods LLC, a manufacturer of better-for-you, shelf-stable foods, debuted Tuno, a new plant-based, canned seafood alternative, on Halloween. The fish-free tuna alternative was made to address the global depletion of fish sticks, according to the company.

Tuno comes in three varieties: Spring Water With Sea Salt, Lemon Pepper, and Spicy Sriracha, all which are available online for an SRP range of $1.49 to $1.99. The tuna alterative will arrive in major retailers in December. It’s made with non-GMO plant-based ingredients and is high in protein, gluten-free, mercury-free and contains omega-3 fatty acids.

7. Al Chipino Vegan Chips

Tortilla chip brand Al Chipino has arrived in various 7-Eleven locations throughout Southern California and will roll out to more over the next few months, said Donald Richardson, global sales agent for Al Chipino.

Al Chipino tortilla chips come in six flavors: BBQ Tikka Masala, Bollywood Sweet & Sour, N.Y. Deli Cheese, Peri Peri, Salsa Picante, and Sea Salt & Black Pepper, all of which are available in 1.75-ounce and 5.5-ounce packages. The vegan chips are free of gluten, MSG, GMOs, nuts, trans-fat and dairy.

8. Tillamook Gourmet Style Snack Sticks

Jerky producer Tillamook Country Smoker debuted its newest product, Gourmet Style Snack Sticks, at the 2018 NACS Show earlier in October. The on-the-go, dried beef and pork snacks come in 12-ounce sizes and promote clean labels, according to the company. They’re made with beef, pork, water, dextrose, sea salt, sugar and natural flavoring. They will be shipping to retailers nationwide during first-quarter 2019.

9. Welch’s Christmas Line

Welch’s Fruit Snacks has launched its latest seasonal variety: new 28-count and five-count Welch's Fruit Snacks Christmas-themed boxes.

These fruit snacks come in Christmas-themed shapes such as ornaments, Christmas trees, snowmen, Santa Claus and snowflakes. They are available at major retailers nationwide for a suggested retail price of $1 for the five-count box and $4.49 for the 28-count box.

10. Undercover Quinoa

Chocolate snacking company Undercover Chocolate Co. recently debuted its newest healthy treat, Undercover Quinoa, in various retailers. The gluten-free chocolate snack features light and crispy organic quinoa dipped in sweet fair-trade chocolate.

Undercover Quinoa comes in four flavors: Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate With Sea Salt, Dark Chocolate With Blueberries and Milk Chocolate With Currants. Diana Levy, CEO of Undercover Chocolate, created the snack for her daughters, who have celiac disease.
