The pandemic lockdowns enacted in the face of COVID-19 have had a sweeping effect on the volume sales of packaged alcohol. At the outset, consumers spent more time consuming at home when on-premise availability dried up and many started buying in bulk.

The percentage of boxed wine sales increased more than tenfold between Feb. 29 and April 18, and 1.75-liter spirits sales were 23 times higher, according to Nielsen. For the week of April 18, 30-packs of beer sales were up 21% and 24-packs were up 20%, while 6-packs decreased 2%.

Alcohol manufacturers large and small have responded with a flurry of new products. Click through for a snapshot of five recently launched alcoholic beverages in the convenience channel.
