8 Sparkling Brands Bubbling Up


Beverage manufacturers are busy rolling out trend-driven options as more consumers look for alternatives to carbonated soft drinks (CSDs). While sparkling waters have the leg up thanks to their familiarity, iced teas, coconut drinks and more are making their own plays to lure consumers. Here are eight brands battling for cooler-shelf space, and some traditional CSDs fighting to maintain theirs.



Avitae is now available in a sparkling version in five flavors: Mandarin Passion Fruit, Berry Kiwi, Raspberry Lime, Black Cherry and Unflavored.



Belvoir Gently Bubbling waters now come in 12-ounce slim cans. Initially, the beverage will come in Raspberry Lemonade, Elderflower Presse and Coconut Water & Lime Presse flavors.

Disney's Star Wars Space Punch is a line of  “sparkling vitamin drinks” that feature a single blended flavor of blackberry, blueberry, carrot, grapefruit, orange, pear and raspberry juices.

New Age Beverages

New Age Beverages has added bubbles to a line extension of its Coco Libre coconut water. In 11-ounce cans, Coco Libre Sparkling comes in Coconut Lime, Coastal Coconut, Passion Mangosteen, Peach Pear, Coconut Watermelon and Melon Grapefruit.

Nestle Waters North America

Nestle Waters North America has redesigned the packaging for the sparkling versions of its regional bottled waters. The 20-ounce PET bottles feature colorful labels and fruit images. The sparkling waters will also come in eight-packs of 12-ounce cans.

Polar’s new Seltzer’ade combines sparkling water and light juices to bring a new twist to the bottled-water category. In this case, the new products are available in 12-packs of 12-ounce cans.

Talking Rain

Talking Rain is spreading its wings in terms of flavors and how to use them. Its Sparkling Ice line of bottled waters introduced a ginger lime flavor.

Zest Tea

Zest Tea is a sparkling iced tea with 150 milligrams of caffeine. It comes in 12-ounce slim cans in Pomito Lime, Masala Chai and Citrus Hibiscus.

Traditional CSDs

Several traditional CSDs are putting new twists on old formulas.

  • Dr Pepper Snapple Group’s Canada Dry brand, for one, is adding a Ginger Ale and Lemonade flavor.
  • The Coca-Cola Co. launched Fanta Green Apple in February, and it launched Coca-Cola Georgia Peach and Coca-Cola Raspberry in March.
  • PepsiCo will launch Pepsi Vanilla and Pepsi Cherry made with real sugar this year.
